Answers to the questions people ask most about Zoshl: what it makes, what it costs, and what happens to your files.
Getting started
What is Zoshl?
Zoshl makes social media content for small businesses: branded posts, carousels, short videos and talking head videos, written in your business's voice and laid out in its colours and fonts. Set a business up once, then make as much as you need.
How do I sign in?
With your email address. Zoshl emails you a code to type in, so there is no password to remember. You stay signed in on that device until you sign out.
Can I look after more than one business?
Yes. Set up as many businesses as you like, each with its own brand, photos and content, and switch between them from the top of the page.
How do I know what to post, and when?
Plan in the nav. Say which platforms this business actually posts to and how often, and Zoshl lays out the next 30 days. Each line is one thing to make and everywhere it goes: a vertical video is a TikTok, a Short and a Reel, so it is made once and posted three times, and a carousel is an Instagram post, a Facebook post and a LinkedIn document. Press one and the wizard opens with the right thing already chosen.
Where platforms share a thing, the busiest of them decides how many get made, and the quieter ones go on only as many as they asked for, spread through the week. Fourteen a week on X and five on Instagram is fourteen things made, with Instagram on five of them.
The page shows a week at a time, with a bar for each platform counting what has gone out against its own number, so you can tell whether the week has been hit. Back and Next walk through the weeks.
The numbers can be set for a week rather than for ever. Change them while looking at a week and they hold from that week onwards, until another week says otherwise, so a push on one thing for a fortnight or a quiet week in August takes two presses and does not have to be undone afterwards. Weeks before the one you changed are left as they were.
You can also say which days of the week you post at all. Untick a Sunday and Zoshl fits the same number of posts into the days that are left, and stops mentioning Sundays. A day that goes by with nothing done stays at the top for a fortnight rather than vanishing, and a slot can be filled from something you already made instead of making another.
The cadences come from published research, and each one says who found it so you can go and read it. Where the research reports two figures there are two lines with a number each: Instagram's own guidance is three to five feed posts and two to four Reels, which are different cadences and different things to make, and a LinkedIn page carries more than the person behind it. Zoshl plots fewer than the research suggests for some of them, on purpose: Facebook's own figure is one to two a day, which is true of a page with somebody employed to run it. Every one of those studies says the same thing underneath, that steady beats often, and a calendar nobody can keep up with is one that gets closed.
It plots days, not times of day. Frequency has real evidence behind it; the best hour to post varies so much by audience that naming one would be making it up.
Nothing is written until you ask, so a plan costs nothing, and it rolls forward a day at a time rather than giving you a month to fill at once. Posted is ticked by hand: Zoshl cannot see your accounts.
Is there a quick way to see what Zoshl does?
Yes: Lucky dip in the menu. Paste a web address and Zoshl reads the site, sets the business up in its own colours, finds a few pictures and writes you a video and a carousel, with nothing to fill in. It takes two or three minutes and costs a few pence. Everything it guessed from the website is on the Brand page afterwards to correct, and what it makes is yours to change like anything else.\n\nDip the same business again with a page about one service, and you get a video and a carousel about that service. The brand stays as it is, so anything you have corrected is kept.
What does setting up a business involve?
A few questions about the business, who it is for and what it offers, then a few photographs. If it has a website, Zoshl can read it and suggest the details and brand colours for you to check. If you have no photographs to hand, the last step lets you pick a few free stock pictures so you can make something straight away, and you can add your own later. You can change any of it later on the Brand page, and add your logo there too. The Brand page can also be filled in from a chat: download the questionnaire, paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or whichever you use, and upload the file it gives back.
What is the percentage next to my business?
How much Zoshl knows about that business, counting only the things that change what it writes or draws: what the business does, who it is for, what it sells, photographs of its own, the logo, its colours, what it never claims, and any statistics it stands behind.
Nothing is counted to round the number up. Each one is something a writer actually reads, so leaving it out makes the result worse in a way you could point at. Stock pictures do not count towards your own photographs, because looking like everybody else is the thing your own work fixes.
It is worth filling in for a plain reason: the more of it Zoshl has, the closer the writing starts to the business, so it takes fewer goes to get something worth posting. Recorded statistics also save it going and searching the web, which is the dearest thing it does. The ring disappears once there is nothing left to add.
How do I get what I made onto Instagram?
Point your phone's camera at the code on the download step. It opens that one piece on your phone, with the caption ready to copy, and Save it or share it hands the real file to Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp or whichever app you post from.
There is nothing to sign in to on the phone, and the code stops working after two days. It is worth doing this way round: Instagram and TikTok have no way of being posted to from a computer browser at all, so the phone is the only door.
What is the bell at the top of the page?
Anything worth interrupting you for: somebody filling in the form on one of your landing pages, and the occasional note from us about something new in Zoshl. The number is how many you have not looked at, and opening it clears them. Nothing else pushes itself at you.
Can I send people somewhere, not just post?
Yes. Campaigns in the nav makes a page for one problem you are going after, with a form on it and nothing else to click, at an address you can put in an advert. See Campaigns and landing pages below.
How do I find out how a page works?
Once something is being made, press the round help button in the bottom right corner of the page. It walks you through what the page is for and what you can change on it, a step at a time.
Which devices and browsers work?
An up to date Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox, on a computer, tablet or phone. Videos are put together in your browser, so a newer device makes them quicker. Talking head videos are easiest to film on a phone.
Making content
What do I post about?
Ideas at the top of the page is a list of things this business could post about, kept until there is time to make them. Write one down whenever you think of one, with a note of anything you would have forgotten by then, or press Ask Zoshl for some and it suggests a few from what it knows about the business. When the afternoon comes, Make something from this takes one straight into the questions with the topic filled in.
How do I make something?
Press Make something at the top of the page. It asks one thing at a time: what to make, what it is about, how it should read and how it should look. Nothing is written until the last of them, and you can go back through any of it. Then it writes it and walks you through the rest, in the same numbered steps, to the download. It is the way in to everything: there is nothing else to find first.
What can Zoshl make?
- Posts: a single branded image with a headline.
- Carousels: a set of slides people swipe through.
- Videos: short videos from your photos and clips, with captions, including a showcase: words changing above a moving strip of your photos.
- Talking head videos: you, or someone you choose, on camera: a short script, customers' questions answered, an interview, or commentary on a photo or clip.
What sizes can I make them in?
Square, portrait, story (tall, for Stories, Reels and TikTok) and landscape. Each kind offers the sizes that suit it, and you are not asked up front: it is chosen once the thing exists and you can see it, and changing it redraws at once without writing anything again. On camera videos are full screen and nothing else.
Can I make something without the marketing language?
Yes. Making anything but a post ends with How should it read?, which is every shape Zoshl can write in. Two of them do not sell at all:
- What you get: one thing that gets better for the customer, then the next. Make more profit. Carry less risk. Get your evenings back. No build up and no selling words.
- From this, to this: pairs. Where they are now, and what it becomes. From a tired front door, to the smartest house on the street.
For a post the same two are in the list of kinds. Both stick to what your business could actually bring about, and neither will promise a result or invent a figure.
Can I change what Zoshl writes?
Yes. Everything Zoshl writes is a starting point: change the words, swap the photos and adjust the colour before you download. A word picked out on a video screen is set in bold rather than a second colour, so there is only one colour a screen to choose.
Can I go further than the wizard on a video?
Yes, for on camera videos. The wizard is a way from nothing to posted and it stays that way, with nothing to learn on it. Polish off a finished video is the other door: a timeline, where you can set the gaps between parts, lay photographs over the top on a lane of their own, put music under it and choose what a held frame does.
What it saves sits beside the video rather than replacing it. Your takes are never touched, so an edit can be thrown away and the video the wizard made is still there.
Is what I make kept, and how do I find it again?
Yes, everything is kept with its business. Archive at the top of the page lists the whole lot, newest first, and you can narrow it to one kind or search for what it was about. Opening one takes you back to it, ready to change and download again, and you can delete anything you no longer want from there.
Talking head videos
What is a talking head video?
A short video of someone speaking to camera. Zoshl writes what to say in short parts, you film each part, and Zoshl puts them together with captions, title screens and your brand's look, ending on a closing screen with your logo and web address.
What kinds are there?
- Script: you say a short script to camera.
- FAQ: questions your customers ask, which Zoshl writes for you. You answer them in your own words, unscripted, with each question on your screen and a limit you set, usually a minute. The question shows as a comment bubble or a card of its own.
- Interview: one person asks, another answers, with each person's name shown as they first appear.
- Commentary: a photo or clip from your library fills the top half of the screen while you talk about it below.
How long is it, and how many parts?
You choose how many parts before it is written, and a part is one thing said to camera. The clock on the page adds up what you have actually filmed and says how long the video will run, title screens and closing screen included, so you know before you make the file rather than after. It says so when a video has run long enough that people stop watching.
For an FAQ you also set how long you get to answer each question, and you can give it the questions your customers really ask instead of letting it write them.
Can someone else do the filming?
Yes. Send them a filming link. They do not need an account: they open it on their phone, film each part and send it. For an interview, each person can use the same link to film just their own parts, on their own phone. You get an email when it is done, and the link closes itself once it has been sent. You can also switch a link off at any time.
Why is the start or end of my clip missing?
A little is trimmed off each end of every part, to lose the breath before you speak and the reach for the stop button. Zoshl measures the quiet each take really has and trims only that, so speaking straight away does not cost you a word. If a part still needs adjusting, open Trim the start and end under it and drag it.
Can I change the script after filming?
Yes. If you change the words of a part you have already filmed, film that part again so the video matches.
Can I work on the video after it is made?
Yes. Polish off the finished video opens a timeline, for whoever wants one. You can set the gap between parts and what fills it, lay photographs over the top for as long as you like, put music under it with the level you want, and scrub through the lot.
A held frame can do more than sit still: a slow push in, a slow turn, a soft focus towards the edges, or a breath of your brand colour. Music can duck under the voice on its own so it drops while somebody is speaking.
None of it touches your takes. The edit sits beside the video, so you can throw it away and still have the one the wizard made.
Why does filming open in another tab?
So the script stays where it was. Filming takes over the screen and asks for the camera, and doing that on the page you were reading loses your place in it. Close the filming tab when you are done and the page you came from already knows what you filmed.
Is the finished video kept?
Yes, a copy is kept in Zoshl, so you can download it again later, from another device too.
Photos, clips and music
What can I upload?
Photos, short video clips and music, for each business. Photos can be up to 8MB each, clips up to 25MB and music up to 25MB. Music can be MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC or OGG.
Why does Zoshl describe my photos?
So it can pick the right photo for each post and video. It looks at each photo once and notes what is in it. Describing uses a little credit.
Can I use stock photos?
Yes, free, from Pexels, and nothing to set up: search for photos and clips on the Media page and they join the business's library alongside your own. Show more at the bottom of the results brings in the next lot, so a search is not the first handful and nothing else.
Can I add music to videos?
Yes, upload your own tracks on the Media page, then pick one while you make a video. The preview plays it, so you can hear the level before you make the file. Only use music you have the rights to.
On an on camera video the Polish editor gives music a lane of its own: set how loud it is, drag where it starts, and leave Duck under the voice on so it drops while somebody is speaking and comes back up in the gaps.
Campaigns and landing pages
What is a campaign?
One problem a business is going after, and everything made for it. A campaign carries a page you can send people to from an advert, and the enquiries that page brings in. You start it by writing the painpoint in your own words, as a customer would feel it: their flat roof leaks every winter and they keep patching it instead of replacing it. Everything on the page is written from that one sentence.
What is on the landing page?
Seven sections, in this order for a reason. It is built on StoryBrand, Donald Miller's framework, the same way carousels are built on AIDA and the rest: the customer is the hero with a problem, you are the guide with a plan, and one clear action ends it.
What they came for, what it costs to leave it, what they get, why you, how it works, the questions everybody asks, and the form. Stakes before value because a loss is felt harder than a gain. Why you before how it works, because nobody reads a plan from somebody they do not trust yet.
Zoshl writes all of it from the painpoint and what it knows about the business. Every word is yours to change, and the sections save as you type.
What is the address of the page?
zoshl.com, then your business name, then the campaign name. It is settled when you publish and never moves afterwards, because it goes in adverts. Renaming a published campaign changes what it is called on your screen and nothing else. If two campaigns would have the same address, the second gets a number.
Why is there only a form and no phone number?
Because a page an advert points at has one job. Every other thing on a page is somewhere else for the one person who came to act on this one, so there is no navigation, no links out and nothing to click but the form. That is the difference between this and the homepages the framework is usually used on, which carry About, Services and Blog across the top and are a different job.
The page is also left out of search engines, on purpose: it is written for one advert and one audience, not for whoever happens to find it.
Can I put photographs on it?
Your own, or none. Two sections take one: the top, which wants the finished work, and Why you, which wants the people or the place. Zoshl picks from what this business has photographed and says why, and you can change it or take it off. A bought photograph is recognisable and costs more trust than it buys, so stock is not offered here even though it is offered everywhere else.
Can I show the work I have made in Zoshl on it?
Yes. Show your work on the campaign lists every carousel and post made for that business, and you can pick up to 6. They appear as a band straight after Why you, where the page has just made a claim and wants to prove it, and a carousel can be swiped through slide by slide.
Picking one draws a picture of it in your browser, which takes a second or two and is why it says so while it happens. Nothing in the band is a link, because the page still has one action on it.
Where do the enquiries go?
They stay in Zoshl. They are listed on the campaign that brought them in, newest first, with the name, email, phone and anything they wrote. The bell at the top of the page counts the ones you have not seen. Nothing is emailed anywhere else and nothing is passed to any other service.
Can I take a page down?
Yes, Take it down on the campaign. The address stops working straight away and says the page is not there. The words and the enquiries are kept, and publishing again puts it back at the same address.
Plans and credit
What plans are there?
- Trial: free, with $5 of credit to try Zoshl on your own business.
- Pro: pay as you go. Buy credit, and each thing you make takes a little of it. No subscription.
- Enterprise: for teams, using your own Anthropic account. Priced on request.
What does credit pay for?
The writing. Zoshl uses AI to write your posts, scripts and captions, read your website and describe your photos, and each of those takes a little credit. Designing, editing, filming and downloading are free.
How much does it cost?
Pennies at a time. The trial credit alone is enough for about 120 posts or 50 videos. The price of each thing is shown as you make it, and the Spend page lists everything.
Does credit expire?
No. Credit you buy is yours until you use it.
Can I get a refund?
Credit you have bought and not used can be refunded within 14 days of buying it, if you are a consumer. Credit that has been used cannot. Payments are taken by Paddle, which is the merchant of record for Zoshl, so a refund goes back to the card you paid with. The refund policy says how to ask.
How do I buy more credit?
Use the Buy link beside your credit at the bottom of any page, or on the Spend page. Buying credit moves a Trial account to Pro.
What happens if my credit runs out?
Nothing is lost. You cannot write anything new until you top up, but everything you have made stays, and you can still change and download it. Zoshl warns you when you are down to $2.
How does Enterprise work?
Enterprise accounts connect their own Anthropic account on the Settings page and pay Anthropic directly for the writing, so there is no credit to buy. Get in touch to talk about it.
Storage
How much can I store?
Trial includes 1 GB, Pro 10 GB and Enterprise 25 GB a seat. Only files count: photos, clips, music and talking head recordings. The posts, carousels and videos Zoshl designs take almost no room, as they are drawn fresh each time.
How do I see what is using my storage?
The Storage page shows how much you are using, for each business and each kind of file, with the biggest files first so you can delete what you no longer need.
Who pays for a business somebody else works on?
Files belong to whoever owns the business, so they sit against the owner's storage. What a guest writes or draws comes out of the guest's own credit, not the owner's, and the owner is not shown what they spent.
What happens if I go over?
Nothing is ever deleted for being over.
- Trial and Enterprise: nothing new can be added until you delete something.
- Pro: carry on as normal. Extra storage is $1 a month for each 25 GB, or part of it, taken from your credit. It is never more than the credit you have; with none, nothing new can be added until you top up or delete something.
Privacy and your files
Who can see my photos and content?
Nobody, unless you send it to them. Your files are stored privately, the address of each one stops working after a short time, and nobody else using Zoshl can find your businesses.
There are three ways something leaves that, and all three are ones you choose:
- A filming link shows that one video's script, and nothing else about the business.
- Inviting somebody onto a business lets them work on it as you do, and pay for what they make out of their own credit. They cannot delete it or pass it on to anybody else.
- Publishing a campaign's landing page puts that page on the open web. The words on it, the photographs you chose for it and any work you put in its band are public from then on, which is the point of it. Taking it down stops the address working.
Is my content used to train AI?
No. Zoshl writes with Anthropic's Claude, through Anthropic's service for businesses, and Anthropic does not train its models on what is sent that way.
What happens when I delete a business?
Its photos, clips, music and everything made for it are deleted with it, for good, and any landing page it had published stops working.
How do I get in touch?
