Privacy policy

This policy explains what Zoshl collects about you, why, who else sees it and what you can do about it. Zoshl is a service of Syon Creative Limited, which is the data controller for the information described here.

Who we are

Syon Creative Limited is a company registered in England, company number 08954806, with its registered office at 7a Abbey Business Park, Monks Walk, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 8HT. We handle your information in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

Your account

• Your email address, and the name you give when you sign up.
• The sign in codes we email you, which are kept briefly and then deleted.
• Your plan, the credit you have bought and used, and what each piece of writing cost.

What you put into Zoshl

• What you tell us about each business: its description, what it offers, its website, its colours and typeface, and any figures or notes you add.
• Photos, video clips and music you upload, and the recordings made for talking head videos.
• The posts, carousels, videos and captions Zoshl makes for you, and any edits you make.
• Your logo, if you upload one.

When you get in touch

• The name, email address and message you send through our contact form, so we can reply.

Technical information

• Ordinary web server records, which include your IP address, the pages requested and when.
• Cookies, as described below.

We do not use advertising or analytics trackers on Zoshl, and we do not build profiles of you for marketing.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To provide the service you have asked for, which is our contract with you: signing you in, writing and designing your content, keeping your files, and taking payment for credit.
• To keep Zoshl working and secure, which is our legitimate interest: fixing faults, preventing misuse, and checking that what things cost us matches what we charge.
• To answer you when you contact us, which is our legitimate interest in dealing with enquiries.
• To meet legal duties, such as keeping records for tax and accounting.

Artificial intelligence

Zoshl writes using Claude, made by Anthropic. To write for you, we send Anthropic what is needed for the piece being written: your business description and settings, the topic you typed, the text of any web page you asked us to use, descriptions of your photos, and, when a photo is being described, the photo itself.

We use Anthropic's service for businesses, under terms which say that what is sent through it is not used to train its models. On the Enterprise plan the writing goes through your own Anthropic account, under your agreement with them.

Who else sees your information

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. We do use these companies to run Zoshl, and they only handle your information to do that:

• Anthropic, for the writing, as described above.
• Cloudflare, which stores the photos, clips, music and recordings you upload.
• Our hosting provider, which runs the servers and the database.
• Our email provider, which delivers sign in codes and the emails Zoshl sends you.
• Our payment provider, when you buy credit. They handle the card details; we never see them.
• Pexels, if you search its free stock library from within Zoshl, which receives the words you search for.

We may also share information where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.

Where your information goes

Some of these companies are outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where information leaves the UK we rely on the safeguards the law allows, such as the UK addendum to the standard contractual clauses, or a finding that the country provides adequate protection.

How long we keep it

• Your account and content: for as long as your account is open.
• Files you delete: removed from our storage when you delete them.
• A closed account: its content and files are deleted.
• Records of what was spent: kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is normally six years.
• Sign in codes: minutes. Enquiries: as long as needed to deal with them and keep a record.

Keeping it safe

• Your files are stored privately. They are never publicly listed, and the addresses that reach them expire.
• Any Anthropic key you give us is encrypted, and it is never shown back to you or to anyone else.
• Each account's businesses, files and content are separated from every other account's.
• Everything travels over an encrypted connection.

Cookies

Zoshl uses only the cookies it needs to work:

• a session cookie, which keeps you signed in as you move around;
• a "remember me" cookie, so you are not asked for a code every time;
• a security cookie that protects forms from being submitted by another site.

There are no advertising or analytics cookies. You can block cookies in your browser, but you will not be able to sign in.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, to object to our using it, or to receive it in a portable form. Email hello@syon.com and we will deal with your request.

Much of this you can do yourself: your files are on the Storage page, where you can delete any of them, and your businesses and content can be deleted in the app.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/concerns.

Other people's information

If you upload photos, clips or recordings of other people, or send someone a filming link, you are responsible for having their permission and for telling them how their image will be used. We handle that material on your behalf.

Children

Zoshl is for businesses and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Zoshl changes. The date at the top says when it last changed, and we will tell you about anything significant.
